Donating Your Time
With such a diverse ministry and a limited staff size (56 total), the Evansville Rescue Mission’s staff wear multiple hats to ensure that each of our ministry divisions are running smoothly. We could not and can not complete this significant work without the energy, enthusiasm and compassion of our faithful volunteer base. Our volunteers are the lifeblood of our ministry. Without volunteers, the Evansville Rescue Mission could not operate at the level that it does.
In 2015, the Mission was able to care for the Tri-State’s homeless and destitute with the assistance over 5,000 volunteers, totaling over 35,000 hours. This total is a representation of one-time and recurring (monthly and even weekly) volunteers assisting us in our work.
If you are interested in volunteering at the Evansville Rescue Mission, please complete one of the following forms.
As always, thank you so much for volunteering your time with us. Your willingness to give of your time helps us fulfill our mission of meeting the basic needs of those we serve.
ERM would like to thank everyone who has signed up to volunteer at our 94th annual Gobbler Gathering. Due to an overwhelming number of volunteer applicants, we will no longer be taking volunteer applications for this day (Tues, Nov 22nd). We are over capacity for all volunteer shifts on the day of Gobbler Gathering. To insure we keep our grounds as safe and as organized as possible for those we serve on this big day, we will not be taking additional or walk-up volunteers for Gobbler Gathering from this point forward. ERM strives to be good stewards of your donated time and efforts toward this event and in doing so we have made this decision to cap volunteers.
Please note that your ERM welcomes volunteers year-round in various positions through our ministry divisions. We could not complete this significant work without the energy, enthusiasm and compassion of our faithful volunteer base. Our volunteers are the lifeblood of our ministry. Without you, the Evansville Rescue Mission could not operate at the level that it does.
Thank you for your understanding.
-Sara Scott, Volunteer and Community Relations Coordinator
We Also Need Volunteers For the Following Areas of Service:
- Donation Center – ERM’s new Donation Center is up and running! This building, located at 421 E. Sycamore St., Evansville, IN 47713, just north of our main campus, serves as the drop-off center for all non-food donations. ERM’s Donation Center is open Mon-Fri from 8am-5pm and Sat from 9am-2pm. Here, we need volunteers to help unload, sort, tag and prepare donations for distribution to our two Thrift Store locations.
- Administrative Offices – We also have a limited number of volunteer spots available in our Administrative offices. Here, volunteers help with basic clerical work such as stuffing envelopes, sorting mail, making copies, filing and shredding documents, etc. These types of behind-the-scenes tasks help our staff stay on top of administrative business so we can better serve our residents and the community.
- Thrift Stores – The ERM has two Thrift Store locations where we sell gently used clothing and household items. All the proceeds of these sales go directly back to the Mission. Here, volunteers help sort and tag clothing and organize the sales floor for our customers.
- Camp Reveal – During the summer months we also have a number of volunteer opportunities available at our Camp Reveal location. This large campground located on the north side of Evansville serves as the grounds for several kids’ summer programs and camps in the warmer months. We also rent this facility out to various churches and organizations throughout the year. There are some service projects available to volunteer groups during these times.
